Sam

Sam Shiah

Head Coach & Founder of Wall Street Mastermind

Sam started his career in the technology investment banking group at Deutsche Bank in 2008, at the peak of the financial crisis. He later lateraled to Morgan Stanley's technology investment banking group (widely considered one of the top groups on Wall Street), where he helped out with the on-campus recruiting process. After Morgan Stanley, he worked as a private equity investor at GI Partners, a firm that has raised over $20 billion in capital to date. He then ran the strategic finance functions at some of the top venture-backed tech startups in Silicon Valley like Square (2015 IPO), GitHub (acquired by Microsoft in 2018) and Enjoy Technology (2021 IPO), before starting Wall Street Mastermind.

Edgar F.

Mentor

Edgar graduated from the University of Chicago and worked as an investment banking analyst and associate at J.P. Morgan. Edgar received his MBA from Wharton Business School, and has extensive experience helping both undergraduate and MBA students with investment banking interviews. He also previously interviewed candidates for the on-campus recruiting team during his time at J.P. Morgan.

Adel B.

Mentor

Adel graduated from Cornell and worked for Goldman Sachs TMT in New York for two years, before moving over to a venture-backed software company as the 5th employee and working his way up to Head of Sales and Corporate Development. He received his MBA at Wharton Business School, where he was the President of the Wharton PE/VC Club. He has extensive experience helping both undergraduate and MBA students with investment banking interviews.

Daniel L.

Mentor

Daniel graduated from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and worked in Morgan Stanley’s LatAm Financial Institutions Group team for three years. At Morgan Stanley, he was very involved in the analyst recruiting program and served as the Diversity Lead for Georgetown’s undergrad recruiting team. After banking, he moved over to Siris Capital Group as a private equity associate where he invested in tech and telecom companies, followed by an MBA from the Wharton School. He currently is co-founder and Managing Partner of a search fund focused on the hospitality space.

Mindy H.

Mentor

Mindy graduated with distinction from Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Business Administration and Economics.  She worked in the Healthcare Group at Deutsche Bank in New York for two years before moving to Chicago as a senior associate at Chicago Pacific Founders, a private equity firm focused on investing specifically in healthcare services companies.  Mindy graduated with her MBA from Harvard Business School, and is currently a healthcare private equity investor at a megafund private equity firm with over $70 billion in AUM.

Ruchi graduated from Yale and worked for Goldman Sachs in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Investment Banking Group for two years, before moving to Warburg Pincus as a Technology private equity and growth investor. She is currently getting her MBA at Stanford. She has extensive experience helping students with investment banking interviews and teaching financial concepts.

John graduated from UC Berkeley and worked as an investment banking analyst for Moelis & Company in Los Angeles for two years, where he served on the on-campus recruiting team. After Moelis, John moved to Toronto to work at CPP Investments in infrastructure investing. John graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is currently working for a private equity firm in Asia with over $23 billion in AUM.
